Bleau & Moppet's Wedding Website
Aug 26, '07 12:34 PM
for everyone
On October 10, 2007 my wife and I will be celebrating our 3rd Wedding Anniversary. Despite the many trials that have come our way, we remain steadfast in our love for one another. The wedding date was also very significant for us because October 10, 2004 also happened to be the 10th day after our tenth anniversary of us being a couple. To that extent you may call our wedding a Perfect 10! =)
In early 2004, a friend of ours e-mailed a link to his wedding website. At that time, the idea of a wedding website seemed very novel and I instantly wanted one for my wife and me too. It just seemed so cool to be able to declare our love for one another in a medium that can be seen by anyone from anywhere in the world. There was only one problem though...budget! I knew nothing about web page development that time and it did not seem practical for us to pay a web designer since we've already exceeded our wedding budget. With financial constraints hampering our website plans, I decided to take it upon myself to learn how to make one.
My first attempt in making a website was done in MS Word. I made simple static pages that were hyper-linked to each other. It took me almost a month to write the text content and design the site. A friend of mine helped me get a dotTK address and have my site hosted for free. I felt so happy with my achievement for about a week…until I saw a website that was running on Flash. OMG! Seeing all the cool flash animations on that website made this greenhorn web designer become greener with envy. Without batting an eyelash I started scouring the web for Flash MX tutorials and began spending sleepless nights learning how to design animation templates in flash. After gigabytes of trial-and-error and two months later, I was able to have our finished flash site hosted for a minimal fee with a dotcom address. The finished website contains our growing up years, genealogy, love story, wedding proposal story, wedding details and even a fun gallery with morphing animations. After two years online we eventually found the cost of paying a dotcom annual fee as unnecessary expense thus, we decided to bid the site farewell and shut it down.
It’s been more than a year since we said goodbye to www.bleauamdmoppet.com. Since I started actively posting stuff at Multiply, I’ve always wondered if it was somehow possible to post our wedding website here. Following a hunch, I uploaded our flash site as an attachment to a Multiply blog…got the link location…and substituted it to a YouTube embed code…the end result? … A new home for Bleau & Moppet’s Wedding Website. = )
The entire site posted here at Multiply works like a charm if you have the latest version of Macromedia Flash Player installed. If the flash site does not start loading, click on the "Get Macromedia Flash Player" box below.
I also resized the flash site to fit the blog space perfectly. All the navigation tabs and buttons are working properly here in the resized version. But if you want an easier to read version, you can click on the file attachment below named
wedding_website.swf
or
to open a bigger version in a different tab or window.
Please Take note that if you’re not on broadband, it make take a while to load on your screen.
