Bumblebee makes an appearance as one of the Autobots in the
2007 live-action movie Transformers. In his Hollywood incarnation, Bumblebee's initial vehicle mode is a
2nd generation 1977 Chevrolet Camaro. As the storyline progresses he modifies himself into a
5th generation Camaro which happens to be a
concept car slated for release in 2009. In the film, Bumblebee has suffered a battle injury and is rendered effectively mute, and can only communicate through the use of selected playback of radio and television signals.
The
Ultimate Bumblebee toy is represented in his concept Camaro vehicle mode and stands a little bit over 14 inches tall in robot form, making it the biggest Transformer toy in the market to date. But what makes it spectacular is its ability to
"come-to-life" and interact with its user through sound and
animatronic movements. Apparently, the toy is incorporated with electronic sensors which respond to ambient sound and motion. The way the robot reacts is stunningly movie accurate as Bumblebee's eyes light up as it speaks (by playing pre-recorded phrases/music) while its head, wings and arms cycle through life-like pre-set animated movements. He also has a cannon that automatically “aims” and fires a missile at the push of a button. In concept Camro mode, you'll be ready for action as it intelligently plays revving engine sounds, screeching brakes and crashing noises in response to user movements. Included are
9 pre-recorded songs which include
"Whip It!" by
